While we have known for some time that Winter House is an impressive project, it appears Wallpaper* magazine does too, following a detailed article recently published on their website.
The feature, which covers the modernist aspects of the home, also dives into the client’s surprisingly simple brief: a residential design but with no further details or requirements. This meant we had the unique opportunity to interpret the design, size, and style of Winter House ourselves.
When conceptualising the house, one thing was certain; the house and the surrounding greenery should meld together symbiotically. We created this by using a contrasting colour palette and modernist, dramatic shapes. Bringing a gallery-like aesthetic to the client’s art collection was another important aspect. It was achieved by removing obvious structural lines and using clean, minimalist interiors that emphasised the hanging artwork.
